Wow what a trip. Its been a while since I have posted on here because I have been catching up with friends and family, traveling around Minnesota and getting ready for my next adventure: my career. But as I look back, I am thankful for all that this trip has taught me.
I believe that taking a trip, whether it is a big jump or a small one, is an important part of life. It can teach you more about yourself and what you need in your life. I suggest traveling or moving with just the necessities to show you just how much you need in life (which isn't a lot). I'll admit it, I'm just as materialistic as the next twenty-something basic white girl, but traveling around Europe for three months with only a backpack made me realize that I can live without all those extra dresses that I just had to buy. Life is about more than just what you have, it's about the experiences and the moments.
As cliche as it is, I really did find myself through these three months. Living on your own, especially in a foreign country, helps you take charge of your life. I found the subtle differences between myself and those around me, and that they are what make me unique. Everyone struggles with something, but those struggles don't define you as a person. I may not be perfect, but I do think that I am on my way to becoming more confident.
